Casa Golondrina is a newly restored house in Murchas, a small idyllic village in Lecrin Valley (Valley of
Happiness) overlooking Sierra Nevada. The house is located in the village square through which goats and
donkeys pass by. There is a bakery and a small local store nearby. Next to the village are wonderful walks through large orange and lemon groves with olive and almond trees and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The ruin of an old Arab fort is within walking distance.

The nearest town is Talara at a distance of 2 minutes by car or 15 minutes by foot. In Talara there are several restaurants, bars, banks, petrol stations, a pharmacy, larger grocery stores and a small museum.

The historic and beautiful city of Granada, just 25 minutes away by car, offers all the amenities of a large city. Famous for the Alhambra Palace, Granada is a sightseer’s paradise with a picturesque old part, the Albayizin, several old churches and monuments.

The Alpujarras, forming part of Sierra Nevada, are just 20 minutes away by car. These mountains offer beautiful hiking routes. Numerous little stores in the mountain villages offer handicrafts, potteries and local food, including cheese, ham, honey and wine.

A wonderful beach is located at Salobreña, 30 minutes away and Golf can be played at Santa Clara golf course at 15 minutes distance, and at Los Moriscos Golf Course at the beach near Motril or at Granada Club de Golf 30 minutes away (see link below).

In winter there is skiing in Sierra Nevada at the most southerly ski resort in Europe, located less than an hour from the house. Numerous runs of varying difficulties satisfy all skiing desires.

Granada’s airport is about 30 minutes from Murchas. Several airlines, including Iberia, Ryanair, Spanair, Vueling, Air Europa and Air Nostrum have flights to this airport. The larger airport of Malaga can be reached in about 1 hour and 40 minutes either along the picturesque coastal road or inland through rambling olive groves. Both airports have a large number of car rental agencies, including many low cost companies.

Casa Golondrina

The house has been restored in 2005-07 using traditional material while installing all modern facilities. It has a total size of about 180 square meters plus a patio on the ground floor and a very large roof terrace. The three bedrooms sleep a maximum of six persons and in addition one or two persons can sleep in a convertible sofa in the living room.

Downstairs there is a large modern kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, stove, oven and micro-oven combined with a dining room with a table sitting eight persons. There is also a laundry room with washing and drying machines, a guest toilet and a patio with Moorish floor and a fountain.

The first floor comprises a large living room with an open fire place, an area with cable-TV with numerous channels, a DVD/CD-player and a video player with several films, and plenty of music, books and games. On the same floor there is a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a guest room and a separate guest bathroom with shower. The bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

The second floor has a bedroom with its own bathroom and a built-in wardrobe. On this floor there is a large terrace with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The house is equipped with a Wi-Fi system making wireless internet connection possible anywhere in the house. Non-smokers and families with children over 12 years of age are welcome to rent.
